Bridgeport Cop Injured in Trumbull Crash

The officer laid down his motorcycle Monday morning.

A Bridgeport motorcycle officer was injured while escorting a funeral procession on Main Street in Trumbull.

Trumbull Deputy Police Chief Michael Harry said, "This morning at about 9:47 a.m., members of the Bridgeport Police Motorcycle Unit were escorting a funeral westbound from Main Street toward Madison Avenue."

"While entering a curve at the bottom of the hill, one of the motorcycles lost traction in the rear wheel when the M/C Officer attempted to apply his brakes. This caused the motorcycle to slide at which time the officer laid the motorcycle down.  Both the motorcycle and the officer slid into the oncoming lane where the motorcycle struck the front of an eastbound vehicle and the officer slid partially under the front end of the vehicle," Harry said.
