Patch Picks: Jack and the Beanstalk and Dining Out

Downtown Cabaret Theatre located at 263 Golden Hill St. in Bridgeport presents "Jack and the Beanstalk." This theatrical performance shows the journey of Simple Jack on his way up a magical beanstalk that grows after his mom throws bean seeds out the window! Your kids will love this rendition of the classic story as there are lots of fun characters to enjoy. Admission is $15.50 per person. Quick Center for the Arts located at Fairfield University on 1073 North Benson Road in Fairfield is showcasing their rendition of "Frankenstein." Directed by Danny Boyle of the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, Frankenstein will be performed on Friday March 18 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $22 dollars. The Discovery Museum located at 4450 Park Ave. in Bridgeport is showcasing a variety of temporary exhibits for a limited time only. Come in this weekend with the kids and check out the "Guitar- The instrument that rocked the world" exhibit. Your kids can learn about the science, sound, history and cultural impact the guitar has had all over the world. On display will be over 60 instruments, along with hands-on activities, audio samplings and more. Also on display at the Discovery Museum is the artwork of Bridgeport resident Liz Squillace. Squillace, who works out of Read's Artspace Lofts has on display, screenprinting and murals.
