According to the indictment, Robson was ordered to pay child support in New York in February 1993 while divorcing his wife. His ex-wife then shortly moved to Connecticut with the couple's four minor children.

Robson, who has lived in New York, California, Arkansas and Florida, has "made no voluntary child support payments, and only minimal payments have been made through wage garnishments and seized state income tax refunds," the release states.

He now owes about $175,000, prosecutors said.

U. S. Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez ordered Robson held without bail after his Jan. 21 court appearance in Hartford because he might flee, the release states.

If convicted, Robson faces a maximum jail term of two years and a maximum fine of $250,000, in addition to the past due child support owed, Carson said.

The case is being investigated by agents of the United States Department of Health and Human Services with the assistance of the Trumbull Police Department, the state of New York and the State of Connecticut, Office of Child Support Enforcement Services, according to the press release.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deborah R. Slater.
