Trumbull Man Gets Two Thirds in Powerball Prize Settlement
The court-ordered settlement calls for Armando Martins of Trumbull to get $630,000 and Nino Nascimento of Bridgeport $370,000, before taxes, according to a CT Post report.
Armando Martins of and Nino Nascimento of Bridgeport have reportedly reached a settlement in their legal battle over a $1 million Powerball prize they won in 2009.
According to a report in the CT Post, Martins brought a lawsuit against Nascimento regarding the splitting of the prize money. In the suit, Martin claimed he and Nascimento frequently bought Powerball tickets together and had agreed to share the winnings.
According to the report, Nascimento asked Martins for $75 to buy Powerball tickets one day in February 2009. Martins reportedly gave $74 to Nascimento — all the money he had — and Nascimento proceeded to buy the tickets. However, as the lawsuit alleged, when Nascimento learned that one of the tickets he bought was a winner, he did not tell Martins, and proceeded to claim the prize money.
