Trumbull Scores and Standings: June 22

St. Joseph placed three players on the All-FCIAC softball first team, tied with Darien for the second-most in the league. Westhill, which finished 20-0 in the regular season and advanced to the Class LL state final, had a league-high six.

St. Joseph players named to the first team included pitcher Micki Keltos, catcher Jenn Vazquez and fielder Breana Shepard.

-- St. Joseph's Joe Burns has been named to the  Connecticut Junior Select baseball team, which will play a squad from Massachusetts at Plainville on Sunday at 1 p.m. Burns batted .414 for the Cadets (20-4) with three home runs and 21 RBI.

Other FCIAC named to the team included were Greenwich's Dylan Callahan and  Norwalk's Matt Ederle. Here is the entire Connecticut roster:

Trumbull's Ryan Yerina completed his junior season with the Southern Connecticut State University baseball team (45-9-1), which reached the semifinals of the Division II College World Series.

Yerina was limited to nine appearances during the season due to right elbow tendinitis, but he posted a 3-1 record with a 1.71 ERA for the Owls. He allowed only five earned runs in 26 1/3 innings.

Michael Von Stein, also of Trumbull, went 5-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 19 appearances in his junior season at Division II Stonehill, which went 30-18.
