Trumbull Welcomes "Books a Million"

The store, in the Westfield Trumbull Mall, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at 3 p.m.

Books-A-Million, a book seller with more than 250 stores in 31 states, has opened a store in the Westfield Trumbull Mall.

It is the second in Connecticut, the other located in Waterford. The company also uses the names Books-A-Million (BAM!), Books & Co. and 2nd & Charles and traditional bookstores called Bookland.

A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.

“We are excited to open a new store in Trumbull,” said Terrance G. Finley, Chief Executive Officer and President. “This is the first Books-A-Million in the community and we believe that our new customers will enjoy the best in books, toys, tech and more.”

The last bookstore in the mall closed several years ago.

In addition to books, the store stocks magazines and gifts. It has a children's section with books, learning resources, toys and games.  The Books-A-Millionlocation in Trumbull will also carry the Nook e-readers as well as other electronic accessories.

Trumbull residents who are new Books-A-Million patrons are encouraged to sign up for the Millionaire’s Club, where members save 40 percent off bestsellers, 20 percent off hundreds of items throughout the store and 10 percent off everything, every day, according to a press release. 

Millionaire’s Club members are also invited to special sale events and receive exclusive promotions and coupons through weekly emails. The new location also offers discount programs for teachers and community organizations as well as community fundraising opportunities. 

“We believe in supporting the local communities that are home to our stores,” said Finley. “We are thrilled to be expanding our presence in Connecticut.”

Following the ribbon cutting, an event, “May The Fourth Be With You,” will take place through 5 p.m. It will feature Star Wars activities, games, prizes and discounts.

The free family event is open to the public, said Karen DelVecchio, executive director of the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce.
