Enchanting Halloween Celebration at Historical Society- Trumbull's Own Blaze!

Have you been to Abraham Nichols Park and the Trumbull Historical Society Museum? Many residents in Trumbull are still unaware of the fabulous campus that surrounds our wonderful museum and research library. Located in Nichols, the Historical Society house sits on the land first settled in Trumbull by Abraham Nichols centuries ago.

Halloween has been cancelled now two years in a row. I can't imagine what kind of disappointment that would have brought me as a child. Growing up in Trumbull, I looked forward each year the the Halloween Happening, trick or treating in Nichols where I grew up, the Halloween Parade at Booth Hill School and to whatever theme Jones Family Farms choose that year for their pumpkin patch. Here at the Historical Society, we felt it was time to do something for Halloween. Many of you might be familiar with the Blaze that happens in the nearby Hudson Valley. Each year volunteers carve hundreds of jack-o-lanterns to display throughout the woods. We want Trumbull to start its own Blaze tradition! We need all businesses, residents, organizations and scouting troops to carve pumpkins to display at the Abraham Nichols Park October 26th! Please bring a non flame light with your pumpkin so that we do not set the beautiful park ablaze...

In addition to the jack-o-lantern display, stay for an enchanting Halloween celebration! This week, volunteers have been busy transforming the museum into a spooky house, complete with Victorian sceance room and mourning gowns from our collection. Come view your pumpkins (winners will be selected and prizes awarded!) get your face painted, dive into delicious fall treats, and best of all, hear spooky tales of Trumbull's Past including Hanna Cranna, Dracula Drive and the great CT vampire hunt by live storytellers! Please note some stories may be too scary for children until 7, but come early to view the pumpkins as stories will not start until 6pm and are optional to guests.

Want to carve a pumpkin? Drop your pumpkin off at the Historical Society, 1856 Huntington Tpke on Friday, 10/25 3-6pm or Saturday, 10/26 9-12. The event takes place between 5:30-8:30PM. Please wear a costume! $5 admittance, but free for those who carve pumpkins to display. Artists may take their pumpkin back the next day. Please visit our event page on Facebook! Tell all of your friends to carve pumpkins, and let's start a new Trumbull tradition!

May the best squash win!!
