The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA girl’s gymnastics team is starting their 2012-2013 competitive season off better than ever based on their showing at the 2012 Harvest Invitational.
Over 130 gymnasts from six YMCA teams from CT, RI, and NY competed for individual and team honors on Sunday, November 18th at the Lakewood-Trumbull Y, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.
“The girl’s performance was truly impressive,” said Lakewood-Trumbull Y Gymnastics Recreation Coordinator, Hayley Foster. Foster is the Level 4 and 5 head coach. “They went out there with confidence, polish, and smiles on their faces. There was a great vibe in the gym. Everyone had fun!”
The Level 5 team finished 1st in the team event and the Level 4 and 7 teams with a respectful 3rd. “Competition was close, individually and on a team level,” said Lakewood-Trumbull Y Youth & Sports Director, Andrew Campbell. “I am so happy and proud of where they (the athletes) are now. I look forward to seeing how they will finish at the end of the season.”
