Trumbull Town Officials Donate Coats, Money, Raised During Drive

Several elected officials from Trumbull, including Town Council members Robert J. Pescatore, Jr., R-2; Mary Beth Thornton, D-2; David Pia, R-1; and John DelVecchio, D-4, along with Board of Finance member Andy Palo and Board of Education member Tom Kelly, recently participated in a food, toiletry and winter clothing donation drive at the Trumbull on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, 2010. Pescatore served as the event organizer.

"I am very proud of these individuals for stepping up to the plate to help those in need," said Pescatore. "We were able to get a lot done for the community and have some fun while doing it, despite the extremely cold weather."

Approximately 17 shopping carts full of food and toiletry items were collected along with several large boxes of winter clothing items. The group was also able to contribute $120 in gift cards to the Trumbull Food Pantry [in the ] for the purchase of necessary items.

"I would like to thank everyone who participated, including town residents Mitchell Valenti, Gary Raytar, Ralph Monaco and Sara Thornton," said Pescatore. "I would also like to thank the management team of for allowing us to utilize their storefront to conduct this donation drive. Finally, I would like to express my most heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all of those who donated – you made this the most successful drive that we have completed to date."
