Reby Advisors hold Back-to-Work Workshop at TBICO

Patrick Doherty a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with Danbury, Connecticut based Reby Advisors recently conducted a “Back-to-Work” workshop for the graduating class of TBICO (The Bridge to Independence & Career Opportunities) in Danbury. The presentation was a part of TBICO’s Center for Economic Competency (CEC) Workshop Series. Mr. Doherty spoke to the students about what to expect with a job offer; compensation, benefits, taxes, 401(k) contributions, personal budgeting, savings, debt management and more. “Our mission is to inspire people to achieve financial peace of mind. Helping people improve their personal situation through increased knowledge about their finances benefits the entire community.” said Mr. Doherty.

TBICO is a nonprofit organization established in 1993, dedicated to helping people help themselves. TBICO teaches people how to take control of their lives. It is an educational, employment and personal resource center for individuals who want to improve their skills, expand their employment options, and enhance their future and the futures of their children.

TBICO programs are not gender-specific; however, it is predominantly women who seek out their services. Students can be people who are unemployed or underemployed, with a great many being dislocated workers downsized after years of working and in need of retraining. Some are displaced homemakers who suddenly find themselves the family breadwinner as a result of divorce or the death or disablement of a spouse. Many more are women who never expected to need help but who for a variety of reasons no longer have adequate income or, perhaps, the skills to manage their income so that they are able to support their family. There is never a cost to participants for any service.
