The Watermark Hosts CT Air & Space Center for Veterans Day Event

On Monday, November 11, The Watermark at 3030 Park will welcome representatives from Stratford’s Connecticut Air & Space Center for a panel discussion on the F4U Corsair aircraft. The panel will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the retirement community, located at 3030 Park Avenue in Bridgeport.  

 

The panel will feature Connecticut Air & Space Center’s Executive Director Andrew King, Corsair Restoration Team Project Manager Ed McGuinness, and Museum Curator Chris Soltis. They will discuss the development of the Connecticut Air & Space Center, World War II and Korean War highlights, and the current Sikorsky Memorial FG1-D Corsair aircraft restoration project. They will also showcase various artifacts and a large scale Corsair model from the Center.

“Connecticut has a rich aviation heritage dating back hundreds of years,” said Marlane Argianas, Resident Services Coordinator at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “The work the Connecticut Air & Space Center is doing to honor our state’s aviation pioneers, and restore and preserve the aircrafts they used, is truly remarkable.”

Additionally, Watermark resident and Connecticut Air & Space Center member Nick Maniero will be honored at the event for his continued support and hard work to preserve aviation history. A Marine Corsair pilot during World War II, Maniero was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight.
