Air Quality Alert Tuesday for Trumbull, Most of CT

Air Quality will be in the unhealthy range for sensitive groups Tuesday.

It’s going to be warm and sunny for most of Tuesday, but the bright forecast will also bring a drop in air quality that will be unhealthy for some residents.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the EPA’s AIRNow have issued an Air Quality Alert for much of Connecticut, including Trumbull and towns in the surrounding area.

Bridgeport and Stratford’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to rise over 105 Tuesday, putting certain sensitive groups at risk.

“Although the general public is not likely to be affected at [the orange] AQI range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air,” according to the AQI guide.

The orange range includes AQIs from 101 to 150. (At 151, the red range, air quality becomes unhealthy for all individuals.)
