2012 ASP Trip Video & 2013 FOA Open House

Description: Friends of Appalachia will be presenting the 2012 Appalachia Service Project (ASP) trip video and hosting an open house for the 2013 ASP trip. 

This event will be held on Sunday November 4, 2012 at 1:30 PM in the Community Room at the Trumbull Library, 33 Quality Street.

Please join us to celebrate the successful 2012 ASP trip to West Virginia; meet FOA participants, advisors, and Board members; and learn about FOA participation information and requirements for the 2013 ASP trip to Tennessee.

Copies of the 2012 trip DVD will be available for $10 and all proceeds will benefit FOA.

FOA will be asking for donations from all attendees.  The funds collected will be used to purchase Wal-Mart gift cards that will be sent to the families we served in West Virginia in time for the 2012 holiday season.

Town of Trumbull Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Where: Indian Ledge Park, Trumbull, next to the BMX Facility

Description: The annual hazardous waste drop off.

Trumbull Library Book Sale

Where: Trumbull Library

Description: The latest of the Trumbull Library's book sales. 

Wilton: Auditions for "The Drowsy Chaperone" at The Wilton Playshop

Where: Wilton Playshop

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4

Cost: Free

Description: Beside the principal roles, there is a small ensemble cast of various unspecified characters of all ages. All roles must sing well and able to do standard musical theatre movement. Dance skills are required for the roles of Janet, Robert, George, Kitty and the two gangsters.

New Canaan: American Pastoral Landscape Show

Where: Carriage Barn Arts Center at Waveny Park

Description: Curator Lydia Viscardi said: “American Pastoral celebrates our countries landscape in all media.  Our country has a rich art tradition in the genre of landscape.  This includes early American folk art paintings, grand expansive works introducing the public to the fantastic wild western frontier, the Boston impressionist school influenced by France, the WPA murals that introduced our citizens to rural and increasingly industrialized America, and late 20th and 21st century works depicting the United States and its vanishing wild places.”

Newtown: Halloween Skate Jam Fundraiser

Where: Dickinson Memorial Park

Description: The first ever Halloween Skate Jam Fundraiser costs $5 admission and $5 to enter. Prizes will be awarded for best trick, best costume and more.

Description: The holiday fair will have many new features such as a regift it table, antique lace, lunch, hot chocolate and cookies. The quilt exhibit has a charge of $3.00.

Oxford: 41st Oxford Arts and Crafts Show

Where: Oxford Center School, 462 Oxford Road

Description: This juried show offers stationery, pottery, herbal creations, jewelry, ornaments, handspun alpaca yarns, soft sculpture and totes.   Also featured will be handmade books and boxes, oil paintings, photography, metal crafts and folk art.  Other offerings include quilling, beeswax candles, soaps, candy and dried flowers.

Redding: Esteemed Neigbors: Helen Keller & Mark Twain
