What's happening at the Trumbull Library.

Thanksgiving Holiday – Libraries Closed Thurs. & Fri. Nov. 22 & 23; Open Sat. & Sun., Nov. 24 & Nov. 25.    

Always wanted to write?  Need gentle feedback?   Need help keeping your pen to paper?  TLS’s three  Writers Groups are looking for new members, both accomplished writers and writers-to-be!  Tues.s, Wed.s, and Sat.s.  Contact the library for details on frequency and times! 

No-Bake Pumpkin and Apple Desserts! Teens and Tweens.  Fri. Nov. 16, 3 – 4:30pm.  Create a pumpkin pie and an apple crisp without using an oven, in this fun cooking program.  All ingredients are provided.  Bring an 8-inch square glass baking dish from home for the apple crisp.  Aluminum pie plates will be provided for the pies.  Register.  Enrollment limited.  Free.

The Mom 100 Cookbook.  Cooking Demo and Author Talk with Katie Workman.  Sun. Nov. 18, 2 – 4pmThe author of The Mom 100 Cookbook delivers solutions to cooking dilemmas and provides recipes and tips for parents.  To show how easy it is to eat healthy with hectic families, Katie will prepare a recipe for us!  Details online.  Copies for purchase and signing.  Registration required.  The program will cancel if less than 20 registrants by Tues. Nov. 13th.  Free.

Children’s Events

 

Family Chess Club. Sat. Nov. 17, 10am - 12pm.  Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children's Section with your own board, or come to watch.  Club meets the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends).  Free.

 

Poetry Workshop with Ellen Carpenter.  Sun. Nov. 18, 2 – 2:45pm.  Join High School student and poetry enthusiast Ellen Carpenter for this fun and educational workshop.  Hear some autumn haikus by Kobayashi Issa and November Night by Adelaide Crapsey.  Then create your own autumn poem! 1st – 3rd graders.  Register. 

 

Not-to-Be Missed Messy Mystery Craft Program (ages 7 - 10) at the Main Library. Mon. Nov. 19, 4 – 5pm.  What will you create? What will you hear? Who knows?  But it will be fun! Join your library friends for this monthly program.  Register. 

 

Storytime for 2's. Tues. Nov. 20, 9:30 – 10am. Toddlers bring your caregivers! Stories, music and an easy craft round out a fun morning. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull, only. Space limited. Register.

 

Storytime for 2 ½ - 3 Year Olds.  Tues. Nov. 20, 10:30–11am or Wed. Nov. 21, 9:30-10am. Eye-catching books, fingerplays, music, and a themed craft make for a wonderful learning experience for our young pre-readers. Trumbull children or caregivers.  Register.  

Storytime for 4's & 5's. Tues. Nov. 20, 11 – 11:30am. Storytime friends gather to hear age appropriate stories and create a take-home craft. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull only. Space limited. Register.  

Baby Cafe - 6 months to 2 years. Wed. Nov. 21, 11 – 11:30am. Baby's first introduction to the library! Babies and caregivers can expect a jam-packed session of rhythm and rhymes guaranteed to enchant our littlest explorers. Drop in! 

 

Fairchild Nichols Branch

Storytime for 4’s at the Branch. Tues. Nov. 20, 10:15 – 10:45am.  Come for a morning of music, stories, and a craft. Caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Services area. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull only. Space limited; register.
