Patch Picks: Apples, Pumpkins and Awareness

Fall festivals, activities and fun this weekend.

located at 5170 Madison Ave. in Trumbull is holding its 37th Annual Apple Festival this weekend. Stop by the local parish for shopping and family fun. There will be handcrafted items for sale such as fine arts and crafts, jewelry, retail items, cosmetics and more. Bring the family on Saturday between 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., or on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be homemade applie pies, a wide variety of baked goods, candy and caramel apples, and quiches. A Kid's Zone will be available to entertain the little ones with a bounce houses, games, children's crafts, and face painting. Live entertainment by Music Mandy will be performed on Sunday afternoon. Also, if you are interested in adopting a new pet, Trumbull Animal Group will be present with family-friendly animals. located at 33 Quality St. invites you to particpate in a good cause this Saturday. The Clothesline Project on Domestic Violence is a collective effort to bring awareness to an often overlooked issue. Put together by several communities, a ceremony will take place with a visual hanging of t-shirts that have written messages or illustrations designed by victims of domestic violence. Even if you have never been directly affected you can still decorate a shirt to contribute. Stop over to the libary and pickup a blank t-shirt. The clothesline will go up on October 13th for display. The Beardsley Zoo located at 1875 Noble Ave. in Bridgeport wants you to come down and enjoy family hayrides. The grand opening of the zoo's hayrides start this weekend and run through the end of November. Gather the children and their friends for a fun afternoon, between noon and 3 p.m., starting at the W.O.L.F. Cabin and are $2 a piece after admission to the zoo. Check out all The Beardsley Zoo has to offer like exhibits with Snowy Owls, Blue Poison Dart Frogs, their Siberian Tiger and Amur Tigers, Canadian Lynx's and much, much more. St. Timothy's Fall Festival located at 4670 Congress St., Fairfield, is holding a very new Country Fair this Saturday. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, farm animals with sheep and chickens. Your kids will love the Touch A Truck, which will include new and antique firetrucks, ambulances and plenty more interesting rides for the little ones to check out. They will even get the opportunity to have their photo taken with a fireman's helmet. There will also be blowup slides, moon bounces and inflatable fun. Don't worry mom and dad! Food will be plentiful. St. Timothy's Bake Off Bake Sale will run throughout the day with tasty desserts and one-of-a-kind barbecue. Osborn Hill School located at 760 Stillson Road, Fairfield, presents their annual Harvest Faire this weekend. Make the quick drive over to Fairfield with the family for inflatable rides, games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and of course great food! Fairfield's House Band will be performing Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. for your listening pleasure.
