Non-Fiction Discussion Group:  The Director's Club! Brown Bag Lunch Meeting.  Wed. Feb. 6, 12 – 1pm.  Today’s title is The Hare with Amber Eyes:  A Family's Century of Art and Loss, by Edmund de Waal.  In the 1870s, Charles Ephrussi assembled a collection of 360 Japanese ivory carvings known as 'netsuke.' In this grand story, the fifth generation to inherit the collection traces the story of a remarkable family and a tumultuous century.  Check at the Library for copies; suggestions welcome!  Drop by if you'd like to join!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Reverse Mortgages!  Wed. Feb. 6, 6:30-7:30pm.  'What is a Reverse Mortgage?' and 'Am I Eligible?'  Common questions that Michael Buchas, Assoc. Family Chess Club. Sat. Feb. 2, 10am - 12pm.  Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children's Section with your own board, or come to watch.  Club meets the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends).  Free.

Branch Adult Event:  Birds and Bird Watching in Winter. presented by the CT Audubon Society!  Sat. Feb. 9, 11am – 12:15pm.  Discover which birds are around locally in winter, how to attract them, and how to recognize them!  Presentation inside; then go outside to see if we can spot some!!!   Wear warm clothes and shoes to walk a bit.  Binoculars will be supplied, or bring your own.  Space limited, register!  Free.
