Retiring The Flag In Trumbull

It may seem strange, but the most honorable way to dispose of a flag is to burn it.

This summer, veterans, Trumbull Boy Scouts and state Legislators Tony Hwang and David Rutigliano participated in the annual flag burning ceremony, sponsored by the American Legion Post 141.

There were "probably 1,000 flags" to be burned, said George Areson, post commander.

The ceremony was held at the VFW Post in Trumbull.
