The Birth Of A Nation: The Declaration Of Independence

Trumbull resident Pam Discko explains about the importance of public readings in during the colonial era.

After she spoke, a series of readers recited the parts of the Declaration of Independence.

An historic school bell from Trumbull was rung during the ceremony as well.

It was the second annual reading of the Declaration in honor of American Independence Day. The event, on Thursday, was co-chaired by Discko.

Michael Alcock of Trumbull dressed as Gov. Jonathan Trumbull, and some Milford residents also wore authentic colonial costumes.
