The Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center Announces Winners of Annual Scholarships

The Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center (OSM) of Trumbull recently announced the winners of their annual scholarships. The awards were given to high school scholar athletes planning to attend college this fall.

OSM offers these scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who excel in three areas: student athletic achievements, academic accomplishments and community service. The scholarship is open to high schools where OSM serves as team physicians:  Trumbull High School, St. Joseph High School, Masuk High School, Harding High School, Central High School, Shelton High School, Notre Dame High School and Bassick High School.

“Assisting the student athlete to move toward their goal is very rewarding. Our practice is proud to follow these students throughout their high school athletic careers and to serve as their team physicians. This program keeps us connected to the community we serve,” said OSM Orthopedic Surgeon Michael Redler, MD.

The winners of this year’s scholarships are Lauren DellaVecchia (St. Joseph High School), Amalia Nieves (Harding High School), Kasey Moraveck (Masuk High School), Njeri Dodson (Notre Dame High School), Christina An (Trumbull High School), Aleksandra Szczesna (Shelton High School), Gerard Spiegel (Trumbull High School), Jalaam Robinson (Trumbull Agriscience School), Jonathan Ball (Masuk High School), and George Psaras (St. Joseph High School).

OSM includes orthopedic surgeons Stuart Belkin, MD; Michael Redler, MD; Peter Boone, MD; Gerard Girasole, MD; David Martin, MD; James Spak, MD; Daniel Weiland, MD, Mark Wilchinsky, MD. In addition, Isaac Cohen, MD; Michelle Pagliaro Haywood, DC; David Hochman, DC; Alan Feldman, DPM; Steven Fries, PA-C; Rolando Lopez, PA-C; Carrie Loomis, PA-C, John Carravone, PA-C, John Lignore PA-C, Michael Hann, PA-C, Anita Eisenhauer, ATC and Ashley Batchelder, ATC, Sports Medicine Coordinator.

OSM surgeons specialize in all aspects of bone and joint surgery as well as sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. The practice consists of two chiropractors, a podiatrist, a physiatrist, physician assistants, and athletic trainers. OSM has offices in Trumbull, Fairfield, Stratford, and Shelton as well as The OSM Therapy Centers in Trumbull, Fairfield and Shelton. Their website is www.osmcenter.com.
