Tornado Warning in Effect until 5 p.m.

Connecticut is included in a tornado watch area from Washington D.C. and Utica, N.Y.

According to National Weather Service at NOAA.gov, "A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area."

This week's forecast calls for:

  • This Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 72. Breezy, with a south wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 50. West wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 66. North wind 5 to 11 mph.
  • Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 65. East wind around 10 mph.
  • Wednesday: NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 48.
  • Thursday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
  • Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50.
