Trumbull Moms Move from Facebook to Fundraisers

Kathy Champion was one 1,500 Trumbull moms who gathered on the Trumbull Moms Facebook page.

But they have moved beyond cyberspace and into real life assistance as IMPACTrumbull, such as helping food pantries and gathering toiletries for veterans.

"We are on our way to be the first official 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, born from a social media outlet, right here in Trumbull," Champion said. "There are over 1,500 moms on this page and we wanted to use the power of this group to do good works in our community."

"Our mission is to help already established charities in Fairfield County one need at a time," she said.

They organize collections and have one event each month, such as food for food pantry, toiletries for veterans, gardening for Catherine House, making blankets for Brady's Smile, according to Champion.

The first event is Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trumbull Library with an 18-hole miniature golf course sponsored by Jeffrey Wright's Painting & Restoration.

The event will be catered and there will be a raffle and silent auction. For more information, the group's Website is http://impactrumbull.org/ready-to-make-an-impact/
