Trumbull Teen Who Received Liver Transplant Dies

The funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St. Trumbull.

Kyleigh Leos, a 2013 Trumbull High School graduate and daughter of Trumbull Police Officer Jay Leos, has died after battling a life-long liver illness.

The teen was remembered on her father's Facebook page and elsewhere on Facebook.

"Kyleigh - How are we to get along without you? You inspired so many - loved and loved by countless - some who never met you. You endured so many hardships - difficulties - pain. I don't know anyone who could have stood up to the adversity you mocked with your inexhaustible endurance. How will we go on? There is no answer!

"But then I think - no more pills - no more tests - no more poking and prodding - no more needles - no more tubes! You have a well deserved peace!!" said Dave Giannini, a supporter, on Facebook.

The teen received part of the liver of Trumbull Officer Michael Gonzalez in 2010, but her body later rejected it and her liver and kidney failed. She was born with biliary atresia, a condition of the liver, and had many surgeries over the years.

Memorial services will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 11 a.m. in the Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donate Life CT, P. O. Box 278, Durham, CT 06422, The Toy Closet Program, c/o the Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510-3202 or Mikey's Way, 2229 Black Rock Turnpike, Suite 307, Fairfield, CT 06825.
