Trumbull's Karen DelVecchio Named Chairwoman

Trumbull's Karen DelVecchio is moving up in the world.

The Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, has appointed Karen M. DelVecchio, IOM, Executive Vice President of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, to chair the Northeast Board of Regents.

As chair of the board, DelVecchio will help implement the policies created by the Institute’s National Board of Trustees, according to a press release.

“A strong Board of Regents is essential to Institute’s success,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, the U.S. Chamber’s vice president of Institute for Organization Management. “These volunteers drive site attendance, provide recommendations for program improvement, and serve as an on-site resource for Institute participants.”

"Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has educated tens of thousands of association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members, and become strong business advocates," according to the statement.

The Institute’s five Boards of Regents serve on behalf of the National Board of Trustees. Each Board of Regents is responsible for recruitment, retention, and marketing of the program nationwide. Each regent is an Institute graduate nominated by their peers, and will serve for a designated term of up to two years.

Starting in 2006, DelVecchio has held numerous leadership positions within the Institute program. DelVecchio graduated from Northeast Institute at Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 2009 and has served on the Northeast Institute Board of Regents since 2010.

"As President and CEO of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and former Chair of the Northeast Institute Board of Directors, I know of the both the quality of work and the leadership of Karen Delvecchio, as well as the professional value of the Institute experience. Karen will bring much to a very important table," said Paul S. Timpanelli, President and CEO of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.

The Institute for Organization Management is the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. It is the "premier nonprofit professional development program for association and chamber professionals, fostering individual growth through interactive learning and networking opportunities."

She was named chair of Northeast Board of Regents for U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Institute for Organization Management.
