Walter Camp All-Americans to Visit St. Vincent's Special Needs Center

Taken from various press releases.

Selected players from the 2012 Walter Camp All-American Football Team will visit St. Vincent’s Special Needs FEROLETO Children’s Development Center in Trumbull, a special education school for children with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, to meet the 70 students and autograph miniature souvenir footballs.

This will be the 15th year that the center, operated by St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services, will be on the short list of children’s hospitals and care centers that the players, who will be in New Haven for the annual Walter Camp All-American Awards weekend visit.

Even though staff and students at the center never know in advance which of the current All-American team members will be visiting them, they always lay out the welcome mat and are thrilled to meet the players. The visits are planned each year by the Walter Camp Foundation to ground the young athletes, a few of whom may be destined to become big name professional players, in the needs of others less fortunate.
