School doesn't start until later this month, but the Trumbull Youth Association is staging "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in the auditorium starting Aug. 1.
The show is adapted from the 1967 movie starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore. It is set in the 1920s and centers around a woman's attempt to marry a rich businessman.
Mary Joan Wright and Merial Cornell are co-directors, producers and costumers for TYA. This year's show is directed by Brett Boles, "an award-winning musical theater composer, lyricist and librettist who has worked not only in the community but also professionally for the past 10 years," according to the TYA.
David Harris is the music director and Lisa Minelli is the choreographer and the owner and director of the Lisa Minelli Dance Academy in Monroe. She worked on local productions including "Fiddler on the Roof," "The Sound of Music," "Mame," "My Fair Lady," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
The show plays Aug. 1-3 at 8 p.m. and on Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. Advance purchase is recommended, according to the TYA.
