3 New Businesses, 2 Ribbon Cuttings

The shopping center on Route 111, across from the Home Depot, is looking more like a shopping center these days.

Pet Valu opened Monday, the Prime One Eleven restaurant opened a few days ago, and the Fitness Edge opened two months ago.

First Selectman Tim Herbst and a delegation of town officials cut the ribbons for Prime One Eleven and the Fitness Edge Monday evening.

A ribbon cutting has not yet been scheduled for Pet Valu, a chain which has stores in Norwalk, Darien, Ridgefield and Stamford, among other Connecticut locations.

The store carries pet food brands including Origen, Acana and Performatrin. It also has a dog washing center that costs $10 to use. Cleaning supplies are onsite. Frozen dog food, made of all sorts of meat, is also sold, as are animal treats containing all-natural ingredients.

Manager Bill Domkowski said the store treats both pets and owners as family. Customers are called "pet parents," Domkowski said, and families appreciate the dog washing area, which is tall enough that owners do not have to bend over while washing their pet.

Domkowski is also seeking partnerships with local animal rescue groups and the Trumbull Animal Shelter and plans to host pet wellness clinics at the store.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

The phone number is 203-590-3200 and can be found on the Web.
