Where to Pick Your Own Pumpkins in Fairfield County

Halloween's just around the corner, time to check out the local pumpkin patches and farm stands.

Plasko's Farm, Trumbull. Sept. 10- Oct. 31. Also, walk the corn maze and build your own scarecrow, or just shop in the store. 

Blue Jay Orchards, 125 Plumtress Rd., Bethel. On weekends in October, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, where you can pick from hundreds of pumpkins, large and small. 203-748-0119. Wagon rides on the weekends from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. www.bluejayorchardsct.com/ 

Castle Hill Farm, 25 Sugar Ln., Newtown. This farm offers a corn maze, a patch to pick your own pumpkins and on the weekends, hay rides and pony rides. Jones Family Farms - Pumpkinseed Hill, 120 Beardsley Rd., Shelton. The farm offers daily pumpkin picking and hayrides (weather permitting) with more than 50 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. 203-929-8425. http://www.jonesfamilyfarms.com/

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Ave., Stamford. The church grounds are transformed annual into a pumpkin patch, open from Oct. 13 to 31. Hours Monday-Friday are 3-8 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. 203-322-0066. http://www.stjohnelca.org/pumpkin.html
