Candidate for First Selectman Martha Jankovic-Mark (D) outlined her plan to work towards refocusing many of the town’s efforts to improve the quality of education for our students. The Trumbull Democratic plan for education, entitled “Trumbull Education 2020” will tackle issues including keeping politics away from the Board of Education, maintaining class sizes below or at guidelines throughout the district and properly funding the district’s long-term capital project’s plan.
“As First Selectman, I would work to refocus the town’s efforts to improve the quality of education for our students. We must not only maintain our well-deserved reputation for high achievement and success, but continue to address issues on how to best prepare our children for their future while facing ever increasing mandates and pressures.” Said Jankovic-Mark
Jankovic-Mark also looks to resolve these issues in a smart, fiscally responsible way that enables our students to continue to receive the best education the Town of Trumbull can offer, regardless of politics.
In her plan she outlines initiatives such as:
· Allowing every student an equal and valuable educational experience by supporting equitable class-size, delivery of curriculum, and availability of technology to ensure educational consistency from classroom to classroom, grade to grade and school to school.
· Explore opportunities to freeze or lower the current pay to participate fees by providing funding for a larger portion of the cost to district’s sports, music and theater programs.
· Through responsible budget requests, support our outstanding educators as they effectively implement the Common Core State Standards, Content Frameworks and the district’s new teacher and administrator Supervisory and Evaluations
