Meet Joe Peddle

My name is Joe Peddle and I would like to introduce myself as I seek your support in the November 5th election for a position on the Board of Education.  From the time my family and I moved to Trumbull several years ago, I have made an effort to give back to this community.  Whether it has been volunteering to coach AYSO soccer and Trumbull Little League, or as a member of the Long Hill Fire Company, or serving as president of Jane Ryan School’s Father’s Club, I believe in giving back.

In March 2012, I was asked by First Selectman Herbst to participate on the Trumbull Efficiency Committee, the group studying efficiencies between the Town and the Board of Education.  As a business and finance professional at GE Capital, I was eager for the chance to help find synergies between the two.  As a member of this non-partisan commission, we identified several strategies to increase our efficiency while enhancing our children’s education.  A few recommendations from the study that I hope to move forward if elected include:

·        Implement a capital plan addressing facilities

·        Integrate a technology plan benefitting students and teachers

·        Increase purchasing control and oversight for non-academic services

It is imperative that residents elect an individual whom not only can address issues such as redistricting and Common Core, but also someone who can do so in a financially sound manner while increasing academic achievement.  I hope to be that individual for you on the Board of Education.
