By the Numbers: Trumbull's Official Election Results [Updated]

Editor's Note: The election numbers were updated Thursday, Nov. 7, but the results remain unchanged.

Democrats took seats on the Board of Finance, the Board of Education and the Zoning Board of Appeals, but lost seats on the Town Council and elsewhere, according to unofficial numbers.

Some critics of Charter Revision proposed the possibility of a 17-4 majority on the Council, which came to pass Tuesday night as voters gave the GOP more seats on the 21-member panel. Trumbull has minority representation, which means at least one member of the minority party gets a seat in each of the four council districts.

Voter turnout was 40 percent, some of whom included democrats who voted republican, said First Selectman Tim Herbst.

"I'm proud. It was a team effort. We're very grateful for democrats who cross party lines," Herbst said Tuesday night.

He later added that he ran on his record.
