BTC Presents LOVE BITES: an Anti-Valentine's Day Concert

Bridgeport Theatre Company presents an evening of break-up songs for Valentine's Day at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre on Friday February 14 at 8pm. Featuring an all-local cast and live band, the evening will feature angry and bitter anthems by Alanis Morissette, Carrie Underwood, and Kelly Clarkson, and weepy miss-you ballads by Adele, Stevie Wonder, and Coldplay. Also including single lady anthems by Beyonce, break-up songs from hit Broadway musicals, and belting. Lots of belting.

Featuring BTC favorites (including the stars from our hit production of "Dreamgirls") and a few special guest stars, this promises to be an epic night for both singletons and couples looking to do something fun and different instead of a pink-hearts-and-roses lamefest.   The one-night-only performance will take place at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill Street, Downtown Bridgeport. Bridgeport Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Eli Newsom, operates in residence and presents the Community Theatre Series for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. BTC’s 2013/14 season kicked off with LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS in September and then followed with a one-night screening of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, an evening of New Works pieces TEENAGING DISGRACEFULLY, and most recently the sold-out production of DREAMGIRLS.  The remainder of the season includes TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, SHREK, concerts, and fundraisers.

The production is Directed by Christy McIntosh (BTC’s Dreamgirls, Next to Normal and Hairspray), with Musical Direction by Eli Newsom (who also leads a 5-piece live band) and Choreography by Abby Root & Ryan Elle.
