Help us continue our Holiday tradition!

For decades, our beloved tree on the green has been the pride of Nichols and a landmark for our community. The loss of this giant pine has had such an impact on all of us, and the holidays will not be the same without it. The outpouring of emotion and nostalgia has been overwhelming, and we would like to keep our tradition alive
with planting of a new Nichols tree for the holidays!

The cost to cover the removal of the fallen tree, replacement, planting of a new tree and new holiday lights is approximately $10,000. Any size donation is appreciated....including your spare change!

Donations can be mailed to

Being of relations to the family of farmers whom the village is named after (through marriage alone, thank god not in DNA) since the tree took about 160 years to reach this height, how will the $10,000 speed up the process, or will we channel the spirit of Nelson Rockefeller and chop down a Norwegian Spruce in the Berkshires....Roy Fuchs, please make sure to secure the line this time!

Of course we have no kinship, any further, to the Nichols as I am told my cousin wanted children with them but no issue resulted from the marriage, and alas death took her away far too early

Is there something of community value in this post related to the article? I believe the intention is to raise money for the tree destroyed by the superstorm. I don't think venting about personal issues was solicited.
