Roundtable Discussion on the Heroin Epidemic and Use of Narcan
What: Connecticut – and the rest of the nation – is currently in the midst of a heroin epidemic that has spread beyond inner city use and resulted in a rise in overdose-related deaths. Recently the Connecticut Department of Public Health gave the green light for first responders to carry Narcan, the anti-overdose spray, but work remains to get the kits into the right hands.
Join a group of panelists including local emergency personnel in a discussion on heroin, Narcan and the importance of making the public aware of how serious a problem this has become in our communities. The discussion is co-sponsored by the Fairfield Public Library and Fairfield resident Kevin Coyner, firefighter for the Town of Greenwich and candidate for State Representative.
Who: Discussion panelists include:
- Ginger Katz, The Courage to Speak Foundation
- Shawn M. Lang, Director of Public Policy, AIDS Connecticut
- Jerry McGuire, Fairfield firefighter and Bridgeport AMR medic
- Captain A.J. Perez, Bridgeport Police Department Tactical, Narcotics and Vice Division
- A member of the Fairfield Police Department
