The Alzheimer's Project HBO Series: The Memory Loss Tapes

Maplewood at Strawberry Hill presents The Alzheimer's Project Series. Join us as we view and explore these three exceptional films which focus on different aspects of the Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, April 29th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Facilitator: Tania Paparazzo, MSW, Southwest Regional Director, Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter.

The Alzheimer's Project shows there is genuine reason to be optimistic about the future. Created by an award-winning team, this multi-platform series takes a close look at a groundbreaking discoveries made by the country's leading scientists, as well as the effects of this debilitating and fatal disease both on those with Alzheimer's and on their families. 
The Films Include: 

The Memory Loss Tapes, Tuesday, April 29th
This 90-minute documentary captures the experience of memory loss from the point of view of the person with the disease. The film brings viewers into the quiet world of seven patients living with Alzheimer's, each in an advancing state of dementia. 

Grandpa, Do You Know Who I Am? with Maria Shriver, Tuesday, May 27th
Geared toward, but not limited to children and young teens coping with a grandparent's illness, this film presents vignettes that can help a child understand and deal with relative's gradual decline into Alzheimer's.

Caregivers, Tuesday, June 3rd 
A collection of five family portraits that illustrates caring for those in different stages of Alzheimer's disease, this film highlights the sacrifices, struggles, and successes made by those experiencing their loved ones' descent into dementia.
