TYA Jr. presents Cinderella

TYA Jr. presents Cinderella at Madison Middle School on August 10th at 7 p.m. and August 11th at 2 p.m.

Madison Middle School:  The Trumbull Youth Department sponsored a musical theater camp again this year for children in grades 5-8 to encourage the development of musical theater performance skills. The group will be performing, “Cinderella” on Friday, August 10th 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 11th at 2 p.m. at Madison Middle School, 4630 Madison Avenue, Trumbull, CT. Tickets will be sold before all performances as well as in the Madison Middle School lobby M-F 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Maurya Brown, a Trumbull resident, has returned to TYA Jr. this summer to direct the camp.  A music educator for more than thirty years, Maurya teaches piano in her home studio, music education for schools in the Diocese of Bridgeport, and leads the drama program at All Saint’s School in Norwalk, CT.  Maurya directed last year’s production of The Castaways and is pleased to return this year to such a gifted group of performers.  A celebrated teacher for young beginners in the arts, Maurya holds a B.A. in vocal music and education from the College of Saint Benedict’s, St. Joseph, MN.

Cinderella’s godmother had creative assistance from Jim Brown who constructed the magnificent carriage for the princess and audience alike to enjoy.  Maurya’s husband, Jim, has been a GRIP in the film business for over 25 years, building sets for commercials, TV, and movies.  He is also a residential remodeling/restoration contractor.  Maurya’s son, Spencer Brown, will also help on the set and her daughter, Jenna Brown, has helped with the camp in previous years, and will help with the children again this year whenever her schedule permits.
