Live Longer & Get Stronger with Happy Healthy Habits

Read about and come to a 4 week event in April on Living Longer and Stronger. Then blog with me and tell us how you stay happy and healthy!

Come to this event and meet other proactive seniors in our community..

April 7th-View a new documentary “Age of Champions” and see Olympians ages 60 to 100 compete. Listen to personal stories told by 2 local community members: “what I do to live a happy life and stay strong as I age.” Participate in a group discussion.

 

April 14th-Learn about the world’s “Blue Zones” and the daily habits of people living to 100+. Participate in a stretch exercise & get your ticker going! Partake in Laughing Yoga—no mat required—just Laugh Laugh Laugh and feel those endorphins.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

April 21st-Meet Kathleen Wander who started ballroom dancing at 88 and view a video of her dance competition. Observe a live dance performance by a local couple & hear why they love dancing! Participate in a group dance lesson conducted by Kris—an instructor from the Fred Astaire Studio in Trumbull! (No partner necessary)

 

 

 

April 28th-Meet the resident dog from the Jewish Home in Fairfield and learn why pets are healthy habits. View and discuss the video DASH. Hear why gratitude keeps us young and write a thank you or a love letter. Participate in a gratitude meditation.  

 

Since both my parents lived to 90ish, I am pretty sure I have good genes. But good genes are only a part of living longer and living stronger! Correct?? I have to be proactive and choose the "right things" to stay happy and healthy.  

So what are the right things?

I have been on a mission to answer that question for 8 years so I could acquire the habits that will keep me both healthy and happy!!

So, being a person that needs to keep busy, I had an idea this past winter about sharing what I have learned with others in our community. Why not?? I am sure I am not alone in desiring to live a happy healthy life.  

Luckily I have the skills and knowledge to put together a program. In NJ I was a professional facilitator in a large corporation. I designed and taught programs to employees for 30+ years. And to be honest I was going nutty as a caregiver. I needed to use my mind. So I begain to do research. I created an event with a movie, power point presentation and speakers and demonstrations modeling the programs I taught in NJ: Sress Management, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Living Simply, and an AARP program called Think of Your Future...and I added much about health and longevity.    

So now I want you to come and be part of this event and have fun too. That is what is noted above. It is also under events on Trumbull Patch in April. 

It will be held at Grace Episcopal Church because reverand Elsa Worth is a proactive woman and values sponsoring events at Grace Church for our community...so lucky us!!!

I go to Planet Fitness. I walk the trail off Church Hill Road. I swim at Pinewood Lake at a new friends. I garden and sew. I ballroom dance at Fred Astaire Studio in Trumbull. I am a Nana and spend time in NY with my grandchilcren. I laugh laugh laugh as often as I can with new friends. I go to the movies and to listent to music.I attend spiritual events and listen to guided meditations. .... and I try to smile at everyone I meet!! Oh yes. I hug people too!
