Reference Librarian Linda Panovich-Sachs oversees more than the T reference section.
She and her colleague, Walter Dembowski, both run the Business and Career Resource Center, part of a larger network of area libraries. The program is about four years old.
While there is a section in the library with reference materials for job searchers, the library also offers speakers on different aspects of job-searching.
"Why should we all be competing with each other?" Sachs said, adding that it's not a place, but a concept.
"It's an idea, it's a network. It can't be a thing sitting in the library," she said.
Sachs has a business background, something which gives her insights into the corporate world and job searching.
The business networks include the Business Education Initiative, Educational Channel 17, CT-Clic, the University of Bridgeport's CTech Incubator and private experts. The career offerings include the state Labor Department, Skillproof Inc.'s career system and other professional groups.

The program had six programs in 2009-2010, and expanded to seven in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
There is also a special service called "Librarian by Appointment."
"We need to get ourselves out there. We need people to know about us," the reference librarian said.
