DeSanty, Augustine "Gus" 84 of Trumbull, formerly of Milford and Monroe, beloved husband of the last 8 years to Franca, passed away Thursday, October 24th after a courageous battle with cancer at the Maefair Health Care Center. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late James and Millie DeSanty, he was a Monroe Resident for 47 years prior to moving to Milford then onto Trumbull the last year. While raising his family in Monroe, he was very active in the community. He was past president of Monroe Little League and Pop Warner Football, also coaching or managing a little league team. He was co-founder of the Masuk High School Father's Club. He was honored and received The Knights of Columbus Certificate of Merit for his outstanding work in the community. Gus was also an active member in his Towns political party serving in various capacities on town committees and held a past position on the ZBA. He served in the Connecticut National Guard in the late 40's early 50's and married his childhood sweet heart Faye Evelyn Hardin in 1949. In 1954 he opened Abc Sign Corporation and he still thoroughly enjoyed after his retirement coming in everyday to say hello and spend lunch with his two sons who he was immensely proud of in developing and growing the company. Gus enjoyed golf and music from the big band era. He was an accomplished musician in his earlier years forming a band with his late brother- in- law Wally Hardin and longtime friend Bob Fletcher playing at local Bridgeport ballrooms, night clubs and weddings throughout the 50's. In his earlier years he was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan from the Rodger "The dodger" Staubach to the Troy Aikman era up until Tom Brady and the New England Patriot's captured his heart. Above all our "Poppi" as affectionately called by his grandchildren and great grandchildren touched many lives within and outside his family with his kindness, compassion, devotion and a real lust for life.
Survivors in addition to his wife Franca include his two sons and their spouses, Greg and Peggy DeSanty of Trumbull, Brian and Maria DeSanty of Trumbull and his daughter, Leslie DeSanty and her husband Allen Schoen of Southbury. Four grandchildren, Jeff DeSanti and wife Alicia of Monroe, Kim and Ned Carner of Seattle, Alicia DeSanty of Boseman, Montana and Marisa DeSanty of Trumbull. Five great grandchildren, Adriana, Antonio and Cristian DeSanti, Kate and Quinn Carner along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Millie, his first wife of 34 years Faye Evelyn DeSanty, two brothers, James and Frank DeSanty, his sister, Mamie Cavaliere and most recently his nephew Kenny DeSanty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Lions Football & Cheer through the funeral home.
