Meet Monroe Was All Smiles for the Fifth Year in a Row!

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce presented the fifth annual Meet Monroe, the town’s largest business exposition, to the public on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at a new location, the The Waterview, in Monroe. The event was full of energy with hundreds of attendees from business owners and professionals to Monroe area residents.

Meet Monroe is an annual, unique business showcase in which the community can meet local business owners one-on-one and explore the great products and services offered throughout Monroe. Meet Monroe has strived to remain as an excellent opportunity for local businesses and residents of Monroe to connect on a personal level within an informal, fun atmosphere.

The event kicked off with a business-to-business Sponsor’s reception at 2:30pm, sponsored by Charter Business. The Chamber presented keynote speaker, Linda Gottlieb of FIT Training, who was a dynamic and energetic personality at the event, driven in her determination to help other business professionals enhance their energy in a way that becomes both profitable and exciting. Her presentation was titled “Rock Your Energy to Rev Up Revenue” and aimed at energizing and transforming one’s business approach. Attendees were left feeling inspired and energized.

The tradeshow opened to the public at 4:00pm with a flood of guests waiting for their chance to win $2000 a month for life. Though this incentive brought a flurry of guests through the door, it was the attractions within the event that made this showcase particularly entertaining and enjoyable. There were a number of sensational raffle prizes won at the event, most notably a week’s paid summer sports camp, valued at an astounding $400 and generously donated by InSports Centers, among a collection of other enticing and attractive prizes. The expo also brought back Bill Hernandez of Party Cartoons, an incredibly talented artist who drew free caricatures throughout the event for both children and parents alike. There was also an extremely entertaining performance by the Stepney Wildcats that was received with applause and smiles throughout the crowd. Though these events on their own were enough to make this year’s Meet Monroe one of the best thus far, no one could forget to mention the assortment of delicious food and drink from the Taste of Monroe. A number of local restaurants, including Bella Rosa, Edible Arrangements, Maltose Express, Vazzy’s, and Tavern, provided a plethora of free food samples throughout the afternoon for a crowd of hundreds. Truly this year’s Fifth Annual Meet Monroe business showcase was one for the books as a resounding success for both the Monroe business and residential communities.

Meet Monroe Business Showcase was sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank, Charter Business, Monroe Courier and The Waterview. The event could not have been successful without the support and dedication of local businesses and the Monroe community.
