Trumbull's Econ. Chairman: Shop Locally

By Scott Wich

It’s that time of year again.  Gifts to be purchased.  Cards to be sent.  Family to be entertained.  With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, convenient shopping is a luxury.  Before clicking the virtual “Buy Now” button this year or getting in the car to fight holiday shopping traffic, please take a moment to explore the local shopping opportunities right here in Trumbull.

When you buy locally, you are buying from the same person you may run into at the grocery store, library or church.  There is no better guarantee of good products and service than personally knowing the people from whom you are buying.  When you buy locally, you are also encouraging good businesses to come and stay in Trumbull.  A healthy business community can lead to more jobs, lower taxes and better conveniences for all of us.

Whether buying gift cards for a dinner in Trumbull Center, finding a unique craft from a local small business or taking advantage of the national chain stores at the Mall, shopping in Trumbull is a great opportunity.  In addition, it’s a great way to support our business community and, in turn, strengthen our already great town.
