Trumbull's Political Poet: "Stern Village Lament"

There is a new Trumbull Housing Authority Board and the executive director will be replaced at some point.

                       By

                Carol Hudak

(sung to the tune of "Home on the Range")

Verse I

         Oh, give us a home,

          where civility roams,

          and Mommy H.

          is many miles away . . .

          Where seldom is heard,

          A stern and un-wise word,

          And our old commissioners

          have come back to stay.

          Oh . . .

Chorus:

          Home, home on Hedgehog Circle-Road,

          Where there's no longer peace

          if you're old . . .

          We're not musty old fools,

          We're not political tools . . .

O, you MUST leave Stern Village today.

Verse II

           We did nothing to you,

           To deserve this 'P-U'

           That you're dumping on us

           each and every way . . .

We've got brains in our heads,

           And we're nowhere near dead,

            O, you MUST

            leave Stern Village, today.

            Oh . . .

Final Chorus:

            Home, home on Hedgehog Circle-Road,

            Where there's no longer peace

             if you're old . . .

            We're not musty old fools,

            We're not political tools . . .

O, you MUST leave Stern Village,

                   -Muster your troops -

                   -Stop the pillage -

Stop all the fuss and muss,

              AND JUST GO AWAY!!!

                      You MUST!

I was there tonight, and want to know why the chair and commissioners invited Ms. Polansky into an Executive Session. This is a violation. For a chairman who consistently stated how legally correct he wanted to be, this was a huge faux pas. Was the OS&N atty. aware of this? And, as expected, Ms. Polansky is a friend of the Herbst family. Was this interim position advertised, I wonder? In fairness to Ms. Polansky, she seems to have background which would serve her well. My criticism is this: if Ray Baldwin had done this, Herbst would have been all over him. But, again, when Herbst does it, well, it's ok. Good-bye, Mr. Wise and thank you. Good luck to you, Ms. Polansky. I wish you well.

BTW, I want to thank everyone who called and emailed their thumbs up! for this song. For some reason, it struck a deep nerve in town. Thanks for your enthusiasm and your compliments. In answer to your questions and requests, I'd say, yes, it's distinctly possible that you'll be hearing more of this song.

Don't let the lemmings intimidate you, Ms. Hudak. We are lucky to have a talented political satirist in our midst. Humor is often the best way to counter those who take themselves much too seriously, especially when their actions have such a negative impact on so many.

Nasty Joey strikes the same note in every post. No talent here!
