Alleged Aluminum Thief Hits Trumbull Co.

Alleged Aluminum Theft Foiled

A Milford man is accused of stealing about $1,600 in aluminum plates from his Trumbull employer in 2008.

Luis Melendez, 24, of Roller Terrace, is charged with third-degree larceny.

Police said Melendez took the aluminum from Avery Abrasives in Trumbull and gave it to second person who sold it for money. He was detained in Milford, police said.

He is free on $20,000 bond.

Gun Reportedly Waved in Domestic Dispute

An 82-year-old Trumbull man is charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree threatening after he allegedly brandished a shotgun during an argument at home.

Police said John A. Tryjada, of South Edgewood Avenue, used the gun to try to make a party leave his home. After his arrest, police said they seized four firearms, a bayonet and 30 rounds of 20-gauge shotgun ammunition from the home.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Child Allegedly Left Alone

An 11-year-old was left unattended for 10 minutes at the Westfield Trumbull Mall, police said.

Vivean Veronica Chong, 62, of Arlington Street, Bridgeport, is charged with leaving a child unattended.

Mall security reported that woman said she had left the child while she was shopping one store over. Security took the child to its office while the woman was missing.

She is free on a written promise to appear in court.

Bridgeport Man Charged in Dispute

Derrick Barnett, 51, of Garfield Avenue, is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend's Trumbull home.

Police said he tried knocking and ringing the doorbell but the woman refused to answer. He then walked around the house, smashed a window and fled.

His bond was set at $1,000.

Meanwhile, Kathleen Alderman, 41, of Purdy Hill Road, Monroe, is charged with first-degree criminal trespass after she allegedly entered Home Depot in Trumbull after she had been banned from it.
