Trumbull Cops: Near Car Strike and Robbery Arrest

Recent arrests by Trumbull Police.

Bank Robbery Arrest

Wayne Washington, 21, address unavailable, is charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery in connection with the 2011 robbery of People's United Bank on White Plains Road.

Police said Washington was a passenger in a car with two other suspects.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Exes' Dispute Allegedly Ends in Near Accident

Three people arguing in a parking lot off White Plains Road led to the arrest of Edward C. Lenox, 36, of Ivy Lane, Shelton.

He is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit breach of the peace, and single counts of third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police said he grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the collar and shook her and threatened to kill a man to whom she was talking. When Lenox drove away, he nearly hit the other two people, police said.

He was arrested with the assistance of Shelton Police and he was released on $10,000 bond.

Alleged Car Theft Leads to Charges

A Bridgeport man was arrested by warrant on motor vehicle and larceny charges.

Sean M. Cleary, 32, of Palm Street, is charged with receiving stolen property, third-degree larceny, tampering with a motor vehicle, interfering with police and failure to notify the state Department of Motor Vehicles of a change of address.

Police said he gave police false information while they investigated a 1998 Acura Integra stolen from the Bow Tie Cinemas in Trumbull in June 2012. The car was later found stripped in Stratford, police said.

He allegedly towed the car using his pickup truck. His was released after posting $5,000 bond.

In a separate incident, Elizabeth Lara, 26, of Scofield Avenue, Bridgeport, is charged with fourth-degree larceny.

Police said she took jewelry and clothing from Kohl's and paid for only some of the items. The stolen merchandise was valued at $938, police said.

Her bond was set at $2,500.

Alleged Speeding, DUI

Edwin Villafane, 47, of West Ninth Street, Derby, is charged with driving without insurance, driving under the influence, driving unreasonably fast and failure to obey a stop sign.

Police said he was involved in a car accident in November 2012 at Booth Hill Road and Unity Road. When officers arrived, he allegedly told them he thought it was Route 34 and that a deer had forced him off the road.

He allegedly smelled of alcohol and police later obtained a blood sample and obtained a warrant.

His bond was set at $1,500.
