Officials: Zimmerman To Be Charged in Trayvon Martin Case

The 28-year-old has claimed self-defense in the teen's death.

Update, 6:05 p.m.

George Zimmerman has been charged with murder in the second degree, according to Special Prosecutor Angela Corey.

Corey said Zimmerman is in custody after turning himself in to authorities.

George Zimmerman, the man accused of killing in Florida on Feb. 26, will be charged for his role in the death of the 17-year-old, the Washington Post reports.

More than a month has passed since the Florida teen's death. Zimmerman has claimed he acted in self-defense, acting in accordance with Florida's Stand Your Ground Law.
