State Police: Fewer Accidents This July 4 Holiday

State Police reported 297 total accidents with no fatalities on the state's highway's from July 4 to early Sunday morning.

Also, there were 59 reported DUI stops; 2,171 speeding tickets; 451 seatbelt violation tickets; and 4,883 tickets for the other violations, such as cell phone use, unsafe lane changes and following too closely.

In 2012 in the same period, there were 323 accidents, 45 DUI arrests and 1,059 speeding tickets, State Police said.

"State Troopers will continue to enforce all motor vehicle laws as the summer continues," said State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance. "If you see a suspected drunk driver, that is emergency. Call 911."
