UPDATED: Trumbull Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Several Youths

Local man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting three underaged family members.

A Trumbull man was arrested on Wednesday on the last of three warrants for the alleged sexual assault of three underaged family members over the course of several years.

An investigation by Trumbull police and officers from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old Javier Valdovinos on charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to Trumbull police, the investigation began when three victims — two girls ages 12 and 14 and a 14-year-old boy — reported being sexually assaulted by a family member.

Valdovinos was charged Wednesday with two counts of sexual assault in the first degree and one count in the third degree, three counts of risk of injury to a child and one count of unlawful restraint in the first degree.

He was held on $500,000 bond with a court date set for July 22 in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Police also served two warrants on Valdovinos on May 15 on charges of several counts each of illegal sexual contact and sexual activity with a minor between 2 and 13 years of age.

The investigation is ongoing, Trumbull Lt. Leonard Scinto said Thursday.
