A Trumbull man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a handgun at another motorist Tuesday evening in Westport.
Andrew Blum, 43, is charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Westport police said they received a 911 call reporting a road rage incident. A woman driving south on Wilton Road, Westport, with her son before 6 p.m. said a man driving a black SUV had passed her in a no passing zone and both stopped at Wilton Road and Kings Highway North.
"An occupant in the complainant’s vehicle approached the SUV. Upon reaching the passenger side of the vehicle, it was reported that the driver of the SUV pointed a black colored semi auto handgun at him. The driver of the SUV then sped off heading eastbound on Kings Highway," police said.
Police traced the license plate to Blum's home, where he reportedly had a Glock 23 .40 caliber semi automatic handgun.
Trumbull police held Blum until Westport police arrested him. Blum was released on a $2, 500 bond and is scheduled to appear in the Norwalk Court on Oct. 12. The handgun was seized as evidence.
The investigation revealed that the firearm is registered to Blum and that Blum had a carry permit for the weapon, police said.
