Trumbull Police: Alleged Shoplifter Took $1K

This week's Trumbull police arrests.

The following arrest information was supplied by the . It does not indicate convictions. All suspects are expected to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Larcenies Charged

A woman is accused of stealing $1,084 in merchandise from Kohl's May 6.

Aracelis Otero, 35, is charged with fourth-degree larceny. Police said she put clothing in bags, entered a dressing room and walked out holding the bags.

Her bond was set at $7,500.

At the Westfield Trumbull Mall, Mustafa Brooks, 50, of Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, is charged with sixth-degree larceny. He's accused of taking $298 in merchandise from Macy's.

His bond was set at $5,000.

Other Arrests

Heather Anne Johnson, 43, of Woodfield Drive, Trumbull, is charged with violating conditions of release. 

Police said she had been banned from going to her ex-husband's home but returned on May 7. 

Her bond was set at $10,000.

Joao Carlos Calvao, 53, of Scenic Hill Road, Trumbull, is charged with interfering with police and second-degree breach of the peace. And Johnathan Smith, 20, is charged with carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle. He was arrested on Quarry Road.

Arlene Skovira, 67, of Grace Street, Fairfield, is charged with driving under the influence. 

Police said Skovira an off-duty New Haven police officer saw Skovira weaving on Main Street near Town Hall and she was stopped a short distance away. She failed sobriety tests and failed to blow enough air for a breath test, police said.

Her bond was set at $500.
