Trumbull Police Take the Plunge

Officers from New York and southern Connecticut used a cold weekend to practice their ice rescue skills.

Dive teams and Trumbull Police officers from Southern Connecticut took advantage of cold weather and the frozen Canoe Brook Lake off Madison Avenue to sharpen their skills.

About 30 personnel from half a dozen departments came out to jump into the freezing water, which was about 20 feet deep.

In the case of a warm winter, Trumbull divers perform mock ice rescue drills.
