Trumbull Police Warn of IRS Phone Scam

Scammers are using the stress surrounding tax time to con people out of personal information.

Trumbull police are warning residents about a new phone scam specifically designed for tax season.

As part of the scam, an unidentified male is contacting residents stating that there is an issue with the IRS and requesting personal information. The caller threatens that if the information is not provided, the resident will have a serous problem with the IRS.

Trumbull police remind citizens to never give out personal information over the phone, especially to unsolicited callers.

If you receive such a call, report it to Trumbull police at 203-261-3665 and provide as much information about the call as possible.
